Chris holds a Masters of Music from the University of Queensland majoring in Choral Conducting, and a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice, from the the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

After a wonderful musical upbringing of thirteen years singing with the choir of St James' Church King St (now the Jacobean Singers) under the tutelage of Walter Sutcliffe, Chris' conducting career began with his appointment as Director of Music at St Mark's Anglican Church, South Hurstville NSW. From this, many opportunities evolved for Chris, he took up a number of Music Director positions in Sydney (including with the Australian Youth Choir). This culminated in his move to Brisbane to undertake a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting at University of Queensland - world-renowned for its choral education program. Chris completed his studies there with the extraordinary educators Dr James Cuskelly, Dr Debra Shearer-Dirie and renowned Hungarian Choral Conductor and Aural Specialist, Reka Csernyik.

Through these connections, Chris continued his studies with Sound Thinking Australia, and their world class Kodaly based summer schools. Studying for 3 consecutive Januaries under many Kodaly specialists including the Director of the International Kodály Institute in Hungary, Dr Laszlo Nemes, Chris further honed his skills in choral conducting and musicianship, drawing on the Kodaly philosophies of music education and choral directing.

Currently Chris’ life as a Music Director and Choral Educator is very busy and exciting. He works with many groups of varying ages and abilities in an ongoing nature, and for one-off workshops and engagements. He currently directs The Amadeus Orchestra, Chordiality, and Southern Cross Voices. The many ensembles he has worked with include: Sola Voce Chamber Choir, The Queensland Kodaly Choir, The Bluebird Singers and Vintage Voices. Chris was also Choirmaster at St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace for 3 years. Chris has also been sought after by interstate groups to run workshops, such as with Voices in the Wilderness in South Australia.
